Without the Bose equalizer, the speakers sound terrible, with virtually no low end or high end-not surprising since each speaker cabinet consists of nine identical 4" cones wired in parallel. I don't know what Audyssey MultEQ is, or how it would work to provide the same equalization as the Bose equalizer. It's not clear to me from the instructions how these inputs work, or if they might allow me to feed outputs from the Bose equalizer to the amplifier section. The Denon does have a set of EXT inputs, one for each speaker. But there's no Tape Monitor switch, so there's no way (I know of) that allows me to feed the VCR's outputs to the amplifier, short of switching the source to VCR. I assume these outputs would feed whatever source is selected to the VCR's inputs, allowing you to record the source on the VCR. The Denon has a set of audio/RCA inputs labeled VCR(iPod), which can be connected to a VCR's audio outputs. When you were recording any source to your tape deck, you could switch the Tape Monitor switch to the MONITOR position, which switched the Tape outputs to the amplifier, allowing you to hear whatever was being recorded on the tape. The Bose equalizer connected between the amp and preamp.īoth the Heathkit AR-1500 receiver and Hafler DH-110 preamp had tape inputs and outputs (the Hafler had two sets of Tape inputs), plus a Tape Monitor switch. I later built and owned a separate Hafler DH-220 amp and Hafler DH-110 preamp. I can connect the equalizer’s inputs to the VCR analog outputs, and the equalizer’s outputs to the VCR analog inputs. I simply removed the jumpers and connected the Bose equalizer between the two.
