![]() ![]() From a football perspective, we're still going to play nine conference games. I think you play everybody once in so many teams twice, is how it's going to work and then a rotate kind of year to year. How we're going to rotate, obviously, we're going to still play KU twice a year, those kind of protected games, you're going to see, but you're not ever going to be able to play everybody. That's because of the women's tournament starts a little bit earlier. G.T.: Yeah, you know, I'm not really been a lot involved with the basketball side of things other than we know we're going to play 20 on the men's side and 18 on the women's side. He says, "Can you give us an update on future conference scheduling? How will the 18 and 20 games be determined? The actual games for women's and men's basketball? Will there be protected games? And I guess the same for football as well?" Our first question of the day comes from who is always great with questions. All right, so let's talk about scheduling. And we're looking forward to it.ī.S.: Yeah, it gets going here in almost two weeks.ī.S.: Crazy to think about. I noticed that the Women's Media Day, a lot of the opposing coaches were talking about our women's basketball team and how you know, it's going to be fun to play against them. So there's a lot of energy behind both programs. Obviously, the men's we've sold more tickets than we sold that I know of since I've been here. I think our fan base is really looking forward to that. ![]() I think there's a high level of excitement for watching our women with Yoki coming back and with some of the new editions. I think, you know, just watching both the men and women's ticket sales, each week we get a report with the numbers of people. It's exciting to look forward to these two teams. Season tickets for men's and women's basketball are going great. Because he knows I don't know football very well.ī.S.: All right, let's talk basketball. But it's never about hey, how can we not doing this or doing that? Because he would look at me with like, I have two heads or something. Sometimes it's just generally how we're playing or not playing. A lot of times it's maybe about an officiating call. When I see Chris, take his headset off and walk towards me. I'm on the sidelines most of the game, every once a while during a dead ball of some sort or timeout. But you know, I'm really cautious about talking to coaches during the game. G.T.: You know, I don't think an athletic director should ever particularly one who has never coached, sit down and talk to a coach about X's and O's, particularly during the game. Do you ever talk X's and O's with Coach Klieman? I don't know about during the game, but are you just their moral support? They see you on the sidelines all the time. Before we bookmark that and go into hoops, someone asked about football. And we'll talk hoops here in just a moment. And we're just really kind of moving forward with what it's gonna look like with 16 teams.ī.S.: Yep. But generally speaking, there's not a lot right now. So, you know, we've talked a lot about some things at our recent Big 12 meetings, which happened to be scheduling, be one of them, so we can get to that in a minute. I think he talked about a lot of the things some of the fans are interested in. He talked a little bit about Gonzaga and where he was with that and talked about the conference tournament extending in Kansas City. Commissioner Yormark addressed a few things. (Gene Taylor): Now, you know, obviously, basketball media days over the last couple of days. But beyond that, is there anything notable that you'd want to share? It seems like at this point, we have a question about scheduling, which we'll get to. First, we start out with kind of an update from the Big 12. Got a lot of questions to get to we'll get to those in a moment. Brian Smoller with the Director of Athletics, Gene Taylor. (Brian Smoller): Hello and welcome to another edition of Ask The AD. ![]()
